The final play-in places are now in front of us as the game’s conclusion draws closer. There is only one week remaining in the regular season, which means the NBA postseason is just around the corner. We were picking our jaws up off the floor after the Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert deals happened, and it seems like only yesterday. My, with just one week remaining in the regular season, here is where the league sits.

The Boston Celtics succumbed to the Power Rankings curse, with a blowout loss to the Washington Wizards the day after they were proclaimed No. 1 last week — but guess what? They’re still No. 1 thanks to a thorough dismantling of the Milwaukee Bucks a couple days later.
The Phoenix Suns have experienced the biggest gains this week, in part because of the return of Kevin Durant, who overcame an unusually sluggish return game to return to his usual, metronomic form. Speaking of improvements, Anthony Davis’ absolutely outstanding basketball helped the Los Angeles Lakers, led by LeBron James, join the top 10.
The Minnesota Timberwolves, who fell to the Portland Trail Blazers and were decimated by an illness that spread across the locker room, are the biggest losers of the week. They appear to be doing everything they can to lose games. Whoops.
